Although Brittney lives in Alaska she is really close to her parents. So when her dad had double knee replacements she didn’t hesitate to travel down to Tennessee to help her parents. Brittney’s mom is unable to drive so it fell to Brittney to drive her dad to all his VA and physical therapy appointments.

Until Brittney’s dad’s knees have healed enough for him to return to work, finances are tight for her parents. Concerned about her parents getting enough food Brittney started looking for supplemental food options. This search led her to the Samaritan Center and our food pantry.

Brittney and her mom came to the Samaritan Center to meet with a case manager to ask questions about the supplemental food options. The case manager was able to provide an emergency food bag for them to take home and a referral to an organization closer to where they lived that could assist them until her father is able to go back to work.

Her parents know how much Brittney loves them by her actions during her dad’s recovery. More than words could have, her actions show how much she genuinely cares about her parents.

Family is a gift and every day we see the value of that gift here at the Samaritan Center. From our volunteers to our donors to our staff we are thankful for the support of our Samaritan Center family and their help providing Brittany and families like hers’ assistance during difficult times.
