Samaritan Center social services director Sharon Smith-Hensley’s goal is for her team to assist 350 children with a backpack full of needed school supplies during the Center’s Stock Their Lockers program, which begins on July 17. These school supplies and the supplementary clothing the Center will provide will give students tools to be successful in their upcoming school year.
This year, two Chattanooga-area organizations are partnering with the Samaritan Center to serve children. On July 23 and Aug.1, Mr. Stewart, Read 20 Readmobile coordinator, will be on campus to read to children. On July 26 and 31, the Chattanooga Kids on the Block puppet troupe will provide education and entertainment in the Center’s lobby.
Much of the supplies the students will receive will come from donated items. To see a list of most needed items or to learn more about the program, visit stocktheirlockers.com.
