A loving father might skip a meal so his child can eat, or a senior on a fixed-income might have to choose between their prescriptions or rent. At the Samaritan Center, we believe no one should ever have to choose between their survival and their dignity.
This is often a quiet crisis that unfolds behind closed doors, moments filled with shame, fear, and deep weariness. Parents lie awake at night, wondering how to stretch a dwindling paycheck to cover one more bill. Seniors feel invisible as they decide which necessity they can do without. Children sense the tension in their home, even when parents do their best to hide it. These are the heavy emotions that sit in the silence of empty cupboards and darkened homes.
Together, we can change the story.
When a mother walks into the Samaritan Center, she may be focused on food for her family, but she leaves with more than groceries. She leaves with hope. With the strength to look her children in the eye, she smiles and says with confidence, “Everything will be okay.”
Your financial donation to our Campaign for Community allows us to help a family meet their basic needs. You help a parent pay their rent and keep the utilities on, so their children have a safe home to grow up in.
That’s the power of your gift.
When the school year starts, you help build backpacks filled with supplies, essential tools that tell children, “You belong and you are ready to succeed.” Your gift also provides food, cleaning supplies, and personal care items, because no one should ever have to choose between them.
By giving today, you are telling a struggling neighbor they are not alone. They don’t have to choose between survival and dignity.
Giving is simple. You may donate financially online, mail in a gift or even stop by the Samaritan Center in person. And while you’re here, we’d love to show you around, so you can see first-hand the difference your support makes.
