During 2020 our community simultaneously experienced two crises. The loss of jobs and hardship related to the coronavirus; and the challenges surrounding the cleanup and rebuilding following the Easter tornado. The Samaritan Center was able to assist our community in both these crises.

The Social Services Department stayed operational during the entire coronavirus shutdown by transitioning to holding client appointments over the phone and pivoted with the shifting demands in social service assistance as a result of the coronavirus.

The Samaritan Center was able to provide a variety of 8,100 services to more than 1,700 individuals in 2020. Rent and mortgage assistance totaled over $56,000 and the food pantry was able to supply more than $56,000 worth of food items to those in need.

In the aftermath of the Easter tornado, the Samaritan Center provided $161,000 of disaster relief assistance in cleanup and rebuilding efforts for those impacted by the tornado. Through the support of our donors and community partners, we were able to directly impact and bless our community.
