During February our social service department discovered a new opportunity to expand our ministry to the community, through making first aid kits for the homeless.

While these kits cost the social services department $5 to create they contain many beneficial items, which include various sized Band-Aids, antibiotic ointment, hydrocortisone cream, bacitracin, athletes foot cream, and nail clippers. The Samaritan Center is partnering with Homeless Healthcare Outreach to distribute these first aid kits to the homeless in our community.

So far the social services team has assembled 150 first aid kits for the homeless. “We are so excited to have discovered a need in our community which we have the opportunity to meet,” shared Sharon Smith-Hensley, the director of the Social Services Department.

We are blessed to share this newest area of our ministry with you. Thank you to our shoppers, volunteers, donors, and staff who support the Samaritan Center’s efforts in furthering the reach of our ministry.
